As 2021 draws to a close, we look forward to another year of happy couples! Wedding trends are something that change every year, bringing us new inspiration and ideas for the big day. Of course, you want your wedding to reflect your interests as a couple, so you may already have a clear image of what you want your wedding to look like. However, if you are still struggling to pick a theme or you can’t decide between two aesthetics, then following trends can be a good way to spark your imagination.
Check out our favourite wedding trends for 2022…
Two-Piece Wedding Dresses
After reading this trend title, you may either be thinking “hell yes” or “hell no”! But hear us out. Although there is beauty in every wedding dress, it can sometimes be fun to move away from the more traditional wedding elements if you feel that it is right for you; and there is certainly nothing more anti-tradition than a two-piece wedding dress!
One of the great things about two-piece dresses is that they are super versatile. This means that they can be adjusted and altered throughout the day to accommodate your needs. You may have an overskirt for your ceremony and a mini-skirt for the after party so that you can dance like no-one’s watching.
Every bride is beautiful and every bride looks stunning on her wedding day, but there is definitely something in being comfy. Two-piece dresses allow you to move more freely, meaning that you don’t have to worry about wrinkling the dress or standing up straight, you can simply let your hair down and focus on enjoying yourself.
Also, you can wear the dress on other occasions! You can wear the top part for another formal event or wear the skirt with a party top and hit the clubs. The one down side of a wedding dress is that you tend to only wear it once. If you are striving for sustainability, then a two-piece dress is definitely a great choice.
Concept Weddings
We’ve heard that concept weddings are going to be extremely popular next year. Although every wedding has a theme of some sort, a concept is more of a commitment to a particular idea or a specific media trope. Concept wedding are usually based on a shared passion for something; it could be a movie, a book, a place or an aesthetic.
For example, you may both be interested in the 1920s, so this would be the concept and it would embrace all aspects from the decor, to the food to the clothing to the music. Some people may feel that these types of weddings are rather gimmicky and over-the-top, but the beauty of having creative freedom is that you can make it modern, fun and, most importantly, yours!
Creative & Unique Entertainment
Everyone loves a little entertainment. Although your guests would be happy just to watch your beautiful ceremony and eat some good food, having entertainment is going above and beyond. Wedding entertainment usually includes things like a Photo Booth, a live band, a food truck or fireworks; these are all great choices, but for the unconventional couple, you may want to push the boat out a little further…
When you are thinking up ideas, the sky is the limit. Picture circus performers swinging from the ceilings, fire-breathers, ballet dancers, bouncy castles, horse-drawn carriage rides or anything else you could possibly think of. Having these entertainers can help to make your wedding more fun, more adventurous and even more memorable.
Again, this is all dependent on what you both enjoy. If you are going for that sophisticated, elegant setting, then a simple string quartet may be all you need on your big day. Whatever you decide, make sure that you are both happy.
If you are struggling to find the right sort of entertainment for your special day, check out our Pryors Partners page to see our suppliers. Alternatively, come along to our wedding fayre on 20th February 2022 and meet the suppliers yourself.
Wedding Weekends
When we think of a wedding, we think of a wedding day. But what if it was 2 days? or even 3…
For the couple who doesn’t want their big day to end, make it a 3 day affair! This means that you don’t have to choose between one thing or another, you can fit everything you want to do into one, long, fun-packed weekend.
This gives you license to get creative, as well as giving you the chance to invite more people. Narrowing down the guest list can be pretty tricky, especially when you have lots of distant relatives. If you only want your nearest and dearest at your wedding ceremony, then you can invite you other family members to the rehearsal dinner or the post-wedding brunch. This way, no-one feels left out and you get the wedding of your dreams!
There is going to be a lot to look forward to next year, so get your thinking hats on and start planning! We wish you a very Merry Christmas and we look forward to helping you plan your fairytale wedding in the New Year.
